The Spellings Report: The Secretary Takes A Quiz!

Somehow, we missed this interview (bugmenot id: bugmenot87, password: bugmenot) of Secretary Spellings when it was published in The New York Times Magazine yesterday. There's not a whole lot of "meat" to be found in the questions and answers, but the Secretary does indicate that if Utah rejects mandates set by The No Child Left Behind Act, then it will lose $76 million in federal funds.

Here is an example of the overall tone of the interview:

NYT: Time for a pop quiz. Can you tell us the capital of Illinois?

Spellings: Uh. Springfield?

NYT: Correct.

Spellings: Phew. That was a close one.

NYT: What's the capital of Wyoming?

Spellings: Cheyenne or Cody. (Long pause.)

NYT: Cheyenne. Yes, it's Cheyenne, which I know because I watch ''Jeopardy!''

As we said, there wasn't a whole lot of meat.
